Description: When you know something that can help children and teens – whether that’s a new research finding you discovered or a new teaching strategy you apply in a classroom – you want to share it with as many people as possible so it can help as many students as possible. You can get interviewed on NPR, give a TED Talk, land a book deal, testify before Congress to inform policy, get quoted on Oprah’s venues… there are limitless opportunities waiting for you to share what you know with a variety of people.
Knowledge can only have maximum impact on the world – for improved education, societies, sustainability, and more – if those findings are shared widely. But sharing what you know exclusively in academic language has limited ability to move any audience; rather, findings must be shared in ways that move and wow any audience. This presentation offers strategies researchers and educators can use so their findings resonate with audiences and are thus cared about, remembered, shared with others, and applied to helping students worldwide.
Attendees will be introduced to a variety of opportunities for sharing globally. Most of all, they will be introduced to strategies for making the most of those opportunities so audiences are wowed and driven to act on what they learn. The presenter will employ stories to teach these strategies, just as she will teach attendees to do.
