7:15 AM to 10:30 AM ET on February 19, 2020
National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Annual Convention
Title: Turning Data into Meaning (Invited Speaker's Advanced Workshop)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Event Information: www.nasponline.org
Description: For data to be beneficial to school psychologists, students, and other stakeholders in our field, it must be understood, turned into meaning, and used to inspire positive action. This workshop will arm attendees with strategies to extract meaningful information and insights from various types of data. Since collaborative decision-making is also part of effective data use, attendees will also learn how to best share and discuss data in ways that will allow others - such as colleagues, parents, etc. - to turn data into meaning that can help students and schools. The presenter will arm attendees with free resources and demonstrate how to interpret, visualize, and humanize data to make data helpful and easy-to-use. Through an interactive and lively workshop that weaves specific examples, audience participation, and storytelling throughout, attendees will be inspired and primed to turn any data into meaning.
