There was such a great buzz about Connect 2013, Canada’s first national edtech conference, that I couldn’t resist flying out here to present. The learning and technology dialogues are virtually indistinguishable from those in the United States. I even told a fellow conference-goer that if we swapped out the word “Canada” and replaced it with “U.S.” in the keynote letter concerning the country’s tenuous international rank and the need to focus on the 4 Cs (creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration) to prepare students to compete in the global economy, the piece would seem at home with much of the literature U.S. educators are currently reading.

As can be expected, the Canadians are presenting a wealth of knowledge, sharing both their struggles and their successes, from which those of us attending from other countries can learn. I am happy to have the chance to share, as well. A presentation titled Over-the-Counter Data: Improved Analysis Accuracy will take place at the conference tomorrow, May 7, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. EDT. The 1-hour presentation will show attendees what over-the-counter data components look like and how research indicates it can improve the accuracy of educators’ data analyses.
